Cardiac Rehabilitation Room

Cardiac Rehabilitation is to help your patients build a better life after heart disease. Cardiac rehabilitation programs significantly increase the chance of survival after heart attacks and heart-related disease, according to both the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. We have a highly trained, certified Cardiac Rehab team.

Cardiac rehabilitation has four main parts:

Medical Evaluation -Initial and ongoing evaluation to help assess the patient's physical abilities, medical limitations, and any other conditions the patient may have. We track the patient's progress over time. The rehab team also explores all risk factors for cardiovascular disease, stroke, or high blood pressure. All of these findings allow our team to tailor a cardiac rehabilitation program to meet each individual's needs.

Physical Activity -Cardiac rehabilitation improves the patient's cardiovascular fitness through walking, cycling, rowing, and other endurance activities. Strength training is also available at Fulton County Hospital. We also teach patients the proper exercise techniques.

Lifestyle Education -Guidance about diet and nutrition is also provided by our Cardiac rehab team. Support and education is available on making lifestyle changes and breaking unhealthy habits such as smoking.

Support - Adjusting to a serious health problem often takes time. Your patients may feel depressed or anxious, lose touch with their support system, or have to stop working for several weeks. Our caring and compassionate staff will work with you, the physician, to help patients cope with feelings of depression. Today with improved programs and close medical monitoring, cardiac rehabilitation is an option for people of all ages with many forms of heart disease.
